The Galleries
Here you will find various "galleries"
showcasing my work in different areas. Whether
it's a website or a painting, the exhilaration
I get from creating something where there was
nothing is the same. It doesn't matter to me
if I use a computer or a sable brush. They are
both tools used to create. There is a great similarity
between the high-tech world of the web and the
ancient art of painting. Both employ color, composition
and evoke an emotional response from the viewer.
My favorite artists who worked in oils are
the 17th century Dutch painters like Rembrandt
and Vermeer. Hals is also a favorite. In
the modern era I like the German Expressionists
and John Singer Sargent. Each of these
inspires me to do better work.
Andy Warhol is my all-time favorite artist,
and I enjoyed teaching myself his silkscreen
technique. I like the other Pop artists like
Lichtenstein and Rauschenberg, all of whom
influence my work in this area.
Like the Pop artists who incorporated "found
objects" in their art, I have begun to use
this in my work, too. Most recently I am
incorporating old tire treads in my pieces.
